Mackenzie Phillips and the sordid tell-all
Ewwwwwww. Sometimes, I wish we hadn't invented the "tell-all" book (or at least the "explosive" sub-category). Mackenzie Phillips' new book, "High on Arrival," includes claims that she had sex with her father John, who gained fame as a member of the Mamas and the Papas. The sex, which began on the night before her wedding, turned into a consensual relationship, she writes.
In an interview with Oprah Winfrey airing Wednesday, Phillips also says her father introduced her to the drug abuse she's battled for more than half her life. You can also read an excerpt of her book.
This is why I hate celebrity tell-alls. I'd rather not have my impressions of them sullied by drug abouse, alcoholism and other bizarre behavior. Princess Leia abused drugs and alcohol? Michael Jackson slept with kids in his bed? Joan Crawford beat her children? I don't need to know.AP photo from 1981

I just saw a promo for Oprah on TV and decided to see what the "bombshell" (don't you just love TV newser cliches) revelation is and why I don't need to watch Oprah to find it out. I love the Internet.

Okay, that is more information than I ever wanted to know about her.

Publishers are so desperate for money, they are willing to publish just about anything. I sometimes think that civilization is going downhill -- very quickly.
I loved the comments of Rudey and Kathy.

I am truly horrified for any young woman to whom any of these things have happened. That said, I have no interest in MacKenzie Phillips who seems to have no life; have made no contribution to society and have no career other than being the daughter of John Phillips. I realize that she has a desperate need for attention but she's just not getting it from me.

Why is it so hard to believe the man was stoned out of his mind for most of his life and I truly believe it was ok with his children being stoned. It was a very disfuctional life style he led so why would he have not thought it was ok to have realations with his daughter. One of his wifes comments is the his daughter was a little to friendly with her father so put two & two together it does not take rocket science.

These revelations give a whole new meaning to "The Mamas and the Papas."

Pretty much no one wants to know about women with these dreadful stories, especially if they had "no life" and made "no contribution to society." Quite a few of them go into prostitution, though, and they certainly are part of society, whether the rest of us like it or not. They're also real people, with all the vanities, hopes, anger, and affection that everybody else has. They deserve to be recognized as people, not just the objects of smutty jokes. If you'd like to know about their personal stories and daily lives, you can read Vickiesprostitutionblog.blogspot.com
