Read Street is 1!

birthday cakeToday, Nancy and I celebrate our first blogiversary, so the cake's on us.

One year ago, Read Street started with a post that promised we would highlight "the social-ness of reading. Somewhere along the way, reading stopped being a solitary affair and became just the starting point for clubs, cocktail discussions and Oprah-esque media extravagance."

Now, 848 posts and 2,697 comments later, we can celebrate a year of blogging. Thanks to all who have read and commented. It's been fun getting to know our fellow book lovers.

p.s. Nancy tells me that the proper gift for a one-year blogiversary is diamonds. If anyone can verify that, let me know.

Happy Blogiversary!

Hooray and happy first birthday! Here's to many more successful years covering the world of books and reading. (Hoists slice of cake)

Congrats! I've so enjoyed you both over the past year - keep it up!

Ooh, that cake looks so good. And thanks for the current picture. I would have thought that running a blog might age you. But it seems to be doing exactly the opposite!

Nancy and Dave, you deserve diamonds -- and more. But starting with diamonds DOES make it difficult to think of gifts for future blogiversaries, and I hope there will be many more.

My spellcheck doesn't have blogiversary in it, but I wish you a happy one anyway.

Happy Blogiversary to you!

Happy Blogiversary! I love reading it.

Happy Blogiversary! Yes Dave, the correct gift for this event is diamonds. Chocolate is good too.

Chocolate is always good! Happy Blogiversary!

I thought it was paper.
Which is kind of ironic, considering you're a blog.

Anyway, congrats!
Lauretta

Congratulations on 1 year! I hope you got to celebrate with cake (covered in diamonds). hehe

Happy Blogiversary!

yes, the appropriate gift is diamonds for Nancy and limoncello for Dave.

p.s. my blog turned one yesterday, maybe we were in the same blog-ternity ward?!
