Poor Betty! Archie chooses Veronica

bettyversusveronica.jpg

For anyone who's cheered for the spunky blonde in the neverending Archie/Betty/Veronica love triangle, you might want to sit down.

Or you can just scoff at the silly redhead who has decided to spend the rest of his life with rich girl Veronica.

It seems the gang is graduating college, and my guess is that Mr. Andrews is feeling a little vulnerable in today's economic climate. Nothing says survival like marrying into money, I suppose.

Of course, it's all a matter of taste, but Veronica? Really?? I couldn't even root for her as a fellow brunnette.

And then there's always the school of thought that Archie should dump both of these ladies and set off on his own.

I just hope he knows what he's getting into, and that Betty has someone a little brighter than Jughead to support her through this difficult time.

Amazing how tied up we get into the complex relationships between fictional characters, isn't it?

I really thought that he was going to choose Betty

He always seemed to favor Veronica.

And Archie took only 65 years to make his decision!

I can't believe he chose VERONICA. I mean, I loved her as a rival/bff for Betty but seriously, at the end of the day it was Betty who was the one who truly cared. I suppose it's for the best though. I always thought Betty deserved somebody better than a dope like Archie. Hopefully now that he's made his decision she can move onto a guy who can truly appreciate her as opposed to a dopy redhead who keeps stringing her along.

"Veronica? Really?? I couldn't even root for her as a fellow brunette." That says it all. This is a bad sign for the Zeitgeist.

i can't wait until the divorce when veronica gets bored of him. now that there is no more love triangle, there isnt that fuel in her to actaully like archie.

Apparently Betty's carpet didn't match her drapes. Mr. Lodge is getting up there, Archie knows he can get some dough then eventually dump Ronnie if he really wants Betty.

On the one hand I'm shocked that he chose Ronnie, on the other hand I didn't expect anything better from him. "betty" is right when she says Ronnie will dump him soon enough. She was only after him because she didn't want Betty to have him. Poor Betty, she really cared for him.

What do you expect from a guy who took like 40 years to get through high school? Hope he enjoys being a door mat. Betty will probably hook up with Reggie...he'll treat her like crap and her self esteem will be so low, she'll think she deserves it. She'll have 2 kids and gain 40 pounds. Reggie and Veronica will have an affair. Archie will be a fat alcoholic by then. Betty will decide to turn her life around, joins a gym, gets in kick ass shape and becomes a personal trainer and author, empowering other women. Archie will meet her one day at one of her book signings in the mall. She'll pretend not to recognize him, but signs his book A.F.A. He never sees her again.
Veronica contracts herpes from Reggie.

Dave, you might be on to something here. I always thought Reggie and Ronnie are a perfect match, so mabye in the long run they will get together after all. They certainly deserve each other. I like how you picture Betty's future. Serves Archie right!

I think that Vericonica's father should lose his money in the stock market and bad investments and she drops Archie for a wealthy man - but by then Betty will have found someone new and Archie ends up alone like he deserves!!!

See, I always thought Archie should have found a way to have both of them. The girls are such good friends anyway, why should Archie come between them, and why should Archie have to pick one and think about maybe the other - that "what if?" I've always been a sucker for poly families.

Boy o Boy! Why Ronnie? She treats him like crap. I would rather have a happy ending to this - Veronica elopes with Reggie and Betty elopes with Archie. :)

Archie must be converted to Islam so that he can take 2 wives viz Veronica & Betty - that seems the only solution now

I can't beleive it! It took him 65 years adn then he comes to make the desicion of Ronnie. What about Betty? She 's the one that he actually likes. I mean going for the money, the beauty and the mean dad? What a rip off!

I liked Betty best! She makes the best cookies according to Archie!!

Amg

There was never a more clear analogy for money, power, and materialism triumphing over friendship, true love, and the American way.

Well poor betty after all , Come on dont blame archie after all he is just doing what millions of women do after all run after money . For every little betty wailing around we have 1000 good guys putting up a brave face for not getting the girl they loved as their pockets were not deep enough . So just a little advice for bets , grow up and smell the thorns

I always liked Ronnie more, Betty was alway too nice for my tastes. Anyway this won't stay, it will be a dream sequence I'm sure. no way they're letting half the fandom down.

I think Delia Ephron speculated on this in one of her books _ oh, I remember the title now, 'Funny Sauce,' children-of-divorce humor _ back in, what, the 70s?
