Coming Sunday

Read%20St.%20classic%20edited.jpgThis Sunday, when The Baltimore Sun launches its redesigned newspaper, Read Street will get some real estate on the Sunday Books page. Each week, Nancy and I will discuss a topic in the world of books, with an emphasis on Baltimore's literary scene. There's a lot happening this fall, including next month's Baltimore Book Festival and October's Bouchercon convention of mystery writers from around the world. We'll continue the daily blog, but the weekly print column will give us a chance to connect with readers who aren't involved in the online world. And it will give us a new forum to highlight your comments. Check it out in the new arts & entertainment section.

Baltimore Book Festival ...

Is it just me, or shouldn't there be a booth for book bloggers to meet & greet?! I've already posted a note on my blog announcing that I'll be at the Book Fest and inviting other bloggers to meet me there, but wouldn't it be fun to make it official? It would be a blast I tell you. :)

Heather, I don't book blog, but I see sort of an outdoor coffeehouse sort of area.

At the festival, Nancy and I are scheduled to lead a discussion of "The Changing Landscape of Book Reviews..." and we're happy to say that Heather will be joining us on the panel. She has an excellent book blog: www.age30books.blogspot.com. All book bloggers -- and book lovers -- are welcome to join that discussion, which starts Sunday (9/28) at 11 a.m. at the Festival Stage.

About the blogger
Dave Rosenthal came to The Baltimore Sun as a business reporter in 1987 and now is the Maryland Editor. He reads a wide range of books (but never as many as he'd like), usually alternating between non-fiction and fiction. Some all-time favorites: A Confederacy of Dunces by John Kennedy Toole; Wind, Sand and Stars by Antoine de Saint-Exupery; and anything by Calvin Trillin or John McPhee. He belongs to a book club with a Jewish theme.
