IRS takes your tax credit questions at noon

Reminder to all those with homebuyer tax credit questions: IRS spokesman Jim Dupree will take them -- and do his best to answer them -- during a live chat on the Consuming Interests blog today.

The chat begins at noon.

Dupree will also answer other tax-break questions, if you have any.

Will my client qualify for the 2009 tax credit? She currently lives in a trailer house (50x16) a 1958 single wide, which will be condemed and should have been 2 yrs ago. The trailer is on her own land. She is purchasing a new manufactured home in Dec 2009.

Janet

Janet, the IRS has said that mobile-home purchases do qualify for the first-time home buyer tax credit. Whether your client would qualify for the credit of up to $6,500 intended for repeat buyers, I don't know -- I haven't seen this situation addressed. But it sounds like she might.

Is there any tax credit for purchasing a home in March 2009, not a first time buyer and did not purchase after 11/6.
