It might be a housing slump ...

... but that's not stopping all developers from pushing ahead on projects. As Lorraine Mirabella reports today, Capital Development has in mind a spring start date for a $230 million mixed-use project near Johns Hopkins Hospital:
The team is scheduled to unveil its plans today before the city's Urban Design and Architecture Review Panel. Some 444 new apartments are proposed along with new shops that could include a bookstore, coffee shops or restaurants. The site is bounded by an area that includes Baltimore, Orleans, Wolfe and Washington streets.

Apartments and retail around the City's (State) largest employer where Billions of dollars are currently being invested, unheard of. Crazy talk.

actual mixed-use development near a huge employer in the city?! definitely crazy talk! next thing you know there will be a lot of development east of the inner harbor.....that would never work! and think, people wouldn't have to drive to work or even to go shopping! you call this a city?

ok, all jokes aside....this is great news! it's about time the developer moved forward with this project. I look forward to seeing East Baltimore being the hottest thing since sliced bread.
