New site for home buyers and sellers

roost-home.jpg

If you're searching online for a home, you've got a new option: Roost (roost.com) launched today with real estate search for 14 metro areas, including both Baltimore and Washington.

Why Roost and not, say, Realtor.com or Zillow or Trulia or Craigslist? You'll have to be the judge of that. Roost thinks people will want to search the site because it's partnering with local multiple-listing services to get the full raft of homes for sale through agents. (Search on "Baltimore" and you'll get 6,410 listings, or at least you would had you looked at 2:48 p.m. as I did.)

Nice, but it does not touch on some of the great features that the other sites have. Zillow has a quick way to see prior homes sales figures, ZipReality allows you to see short sales, prices declines, days on market, and fixer uppers.

Another site that is similar to Roost would be Googles "Base" project which is http://base.google.com then select housing. This has almost every home for sale since it compiles all the sites.

Regards, nice find Jamie.

I was disappointed in the site. How can you have a DC-Baltimore area which does not include Columbia or Ellicott City. It also appears to be run by Prudential Real Estate company.
