No need to tell BGE if you switch suppliers

KMT sez:

So we made the switch to WGES for natural gas and electricity. Now what - do you know if we have to cancel anything with BGE? I certainly don't want to pay double! Thanks.

The answer is no. WGES or any other supplier will let BGE know that you switched, and you don't need to call BGE. No risk of paying double. I just switched to WGES. First I got a letter from WGES confirming the change. Then I got a letter from BGE acknowledging the swtich.

Is WGES less expensive than BGE? Is it advisable for everyone to switch?

Jay,

Thanks for all the info regarding energy prices and BGE rates. I just switched to WGES 3 year fix at 10.8. When do you think is a good time to lock in on the gas rate? I think you stated in another post to wait and see. Wondering if you have any inside knowledge on what BGEs gas rate will look like this coming winter. Thanks again.
