Where to spend infrastructure stimulus dollars
Sitting in my car in traffic on the way to work, I was wondering where the nation should spend some of the billions dedicated to infrastructure improvement. Then it hit me.

I had to go downtown yesterday afternoon, to pick up something from one our other locations. Walking down an empty Lombard Street after parking on Presidents, I was struck by the incredible number of city workers just standing around.
We all talk about cutting spending or raising taxes, but has anyone ever thought about streamlining these work projects?
No exaggeration, I counted 37 workers in safety vests just standing against the buildings. I understand that they couldn't begin the fix until BGE cut the power off underground, but really. And 37 was just the number I could see in the next block. And who hasn't passed a constuction project with 8 guys standing around watching two guys in a hole? The amazing inefficiencies of these gov't projects is mindblowing to anyone who attempts to run their own business. It's all done right in plain sight, and it is unconscionable.
Of course, if we actually made gov't more efficient, what in the world would we do with all of the laid-off slackers?
