Schwarzenegger: Gay marriage is good for economy

The Sacramento Bee reports that the governor hopes California's legitimization of gay marriage will boost the economy.

"You know, I'm wishing everyone good luck with their marriages and I hope that California's economy is booming because everyone is going to come here and get married," said Schwarzenegger, prompting laughs and applause, according to a recording.

The San Francisco Convention and Visitors Bureau anticipates a tourism boom in the city this summer, said spokeswoman Angela Jackson. The bureau's Web site promotes a gay travel section and now explains that same-sex couples are "officially allowed to marry in the state of California."

Aside from Marriage Equality being good for the economy, more gays would actually pay their taxes once their families are given the SAME legal protection that marriage provides heterosexuals.

To expect us to pay equal taxes for unequal legal protection is immoral and unjust.

I'm with our Governator all the way on this. As a middle-aged, white, heterosexual married woman (for Obama NOT for Hillary) I am not at all threatened by gay marriage and view it as a positive thing. I was once uncomfortable with gay adoption but many studies have shown that their kids are just as well adjusted as those from conventional marriages so that's cool with me now also.
We desperately need to get rid of don't ask-don't tell too. The military is tossing out Arabic speakes and other individuals whose talents they badly need for no good reason.Let's dump this ugly Clintonian compromise now and really start giving everyone equal protection as is their due under the constitution.

Once the rest of the world, particularly the islamic countries, agree with changing the definition of marriage to coincide with Fruit and Nut Land, then I'll come on board as well.

As "Fruit and Nut Land" is one of the wealthiest places on earth, and one with millions of openly gay citizens, it appears that the Governor's argument has merit. New York and Texas are similarly wealthy and have millions of homosexuals.

Let the antediluvians live somewhere else, like (not to entirely disparage the residents of these states) West Virginia or Mississippi - poor states.

Hey John you forgot to mention how destitute and homeless you are.

Yes, that's right Ron. Since I currently have absolutely zero assets, money, or the ability to work consistently now due to PTSD, TAXPAYERS are footing the bill to pay for my food and rent each month.

Ain't it kinda ironic how many anti-marriage equality people are paying their taxes to help gays like me after a "divorce"? Seems like it would be more wise economically to just offer legal marriage to all.
