Free stuff at Dunkin' Donuts, McDs and Red Box

dunkin.gif

I know some of you may have forgotten PhotogExtraordinaire Jerry and his Gems on how to save you money, but our fearless pennypincher is still around. He's just super busy writing, snapping photos, editing photos and creating slideshows to feed the beastbetter the world and the Sunpaper.

To make up for his absence, Jerry's given us three good freebies. Tomorrow, Dunkin' Donuts is giving away a free 16 oz. iced coffee from 10 a.m. to 10 p.m. Check here for participating stores.

And since you're already blowing whatever diet you might be on with that sugary goodness, why not stop by McDonald's, which is giving away 2 million Southern Style chicken biscuits and 6 million Southern Style chicken sandwiches? Perhaps you've seen the commercials?

To qualify,

Southwest owns up to mistake

swceo.jpg

In this job of mine, I get to hear a lot about bad businesses. I hear story after story about businesses that failed to fix things once a problem was pointed out to them. I am often drowning in stories about thoughtless, rude, inexplicable behavior from businesses toward their customers. So it's really nice to hear something nice about a business once in awhile.

Bargain Hunter Jerry must have known I needed an end-of-the-year pick-me-up because he shared this story with me:

Having an email provider that stores all my emails paid off today. Back in September, I booked flights for my mother during Southwest Airlines' buy-two-get-one-free promotion offering a free ticket to Rapid Rewards members for booking and completing two flights between qualifying cities before Nov. 15th. I managed to get her tickets between St. Louis and Baltimore and Kansas City and Tucson for just over $300 total, not shabby considering she was also getting a free ticket out of the deal.

Be like Jerry

I've really been putting off shopping for presents this year. But when I start, I'm going to be more like Jerry. Every week, he shares some amazing story about how much he saved on something he bought. So I thought, maybe everyone should be more like Jerry.

The great thing about Bargain Hunter Jerry is that he wants to help all of us be more like him, too. So here are his favorite shopping Web sites so you don't have to wait outside all night long for a deal.

Try them out and let me know how it works out for you. Or write in if you have an even better tip that Jerry and the rest of us can add to our repertoire!

PayPal Eggxasperation

So PayPal sent the following e-mail out to consumers with the words, "Get 20% Cash Back. For a limited time at select merchants."

Bargain Hunter Jerry jumped on the deal, as did many, many, many others, apparently. Here's his report about Cyber Monday Blues:

Which is worse: Spending the night in the cold outside a big box store on Black Friday only to find out that the guy in front of you got the last of whatever item dragged you out there in the first place. Or: Finding a great deal online on Cyber Monday only to discover later that you may not get the promotional rebate that actually made your purchase a real deal?
The latter is what thousands are mulling over this week after a promotion by PayPal and several online retailers seems to have soured.

Catch a movie for a buck

When's the last time you paid a buck to see a movie? Jumpin jellybeans, the popcorn and soda can cost more these days than the actual movie ticket. It's ridiculous. With that said, some movies just have to be seen on the big screen so sometimes, I find myself forking over wads of cash to catch a flick. Me, I'm partial to most movies that have car chases, gun fights, sword fights, kung fu chop socky action and explosions.

(sigh) I still regret missing Transformers in the theater...

But enough with my rambling. Bargain Shopper Jerry has a movie deal for you, but you have to act FAST today!

Discover Apple

Merchant Account Apple Logo

As you're digging into your turkey or enjoying your turkey coma (hey, some of us are eating turkey all day long, once early with family and then later again with friends), the ever vigilant and helpful Bargain Shopper Jerry wanted to share this little savings tidbit with you if you're planning on shopping for Apple products tomorrow:

If you are considering buying an ipod or iphone over the holidays you might consider using a Discover card at the Apple store in Towsontown center.

Discover is running a promotion that gives you a $20 Discover gift card for every $200 you spend at participating malls. This amounts to a 10% rebate on some popular items that are rarely discounted. Receipts from different stores in the mall can be combined to get your total.

"Original receipts must be presented to a participating shopping center's Customer Service Desk (or the Discover Card Booth) by 12/31/07. Limit five Gift Cards per account during the promotion period."

Find out more on Discover's Web site.
