Which holiday is it? Black Friday specials start on Halloween at Sears

holiday shopping deals start halloweenWe all know that the day of super shopping deals known as Black Friday isn't officially until the day after Thanksgiving.

But at least one retailer wants to give you those bargains this weekend.

Sears said it will start offering "Black Friday Now" deals Saturday. That's right, on Halloween.

Most of the deals will be offered every Saturday from 7 a.m. to noon until Christmas. This weekend the specials will be offered a little longer from Friday at 5 p.m. through Saturday at noon.

The company said they created the deals because consumers wanted door buster sales earlier in the season. The retailer is also trying to get people to use its layaway services.

Samples of the deals to be offered this weekend include, diamond stud earrings for $79.99 and an elliptical for $399.99.

Other retailers have also announced they are already starting holiday deals. Walmart has 100 toys for $10 and is selling soon-to-be released books for $8.99, among other things.

Kohls will have power shopping days on Nov. 6 and 7. There will be holiday bargains and stores will be open until midnight.

Will any of you be starting you holiday shopping now.

I think this is a great idea. They will be beating all the other retailers to the punch. The only problem with shopping early is trying to remember those gifts.

Rite-Aid already has Thanksgiving items on discount, and Xmas displays up.

Yes, I have started my shopping and I even utilized Kmart's layaway just to keep gifts out of sight till December. Goodway to jump start the holiday!

You're so good. I hear a lot of people will be using layaway this year. AW

YES, we have already started our shopping. Our goal is to create no debt from the holidays. So we have started now and are spreading the purchases out and using CASH. Bring on all these sales now retail stores, we are ready.

Another smart shopper? They say the deals will be earlier this year so that should help you. AW

You know, I noticed last week that Christmas cards were already 50 percent off at the Borders in TImonium -- and it's not even Halloween! At this rate, how much are they going to cost on Black Friday, or even the day after Christmas?
