Pet Airways: An airline just for your dog or cat
Pet Airways, the new airline that only allows pets on board, took its first flight from BWI Airport Tuesday. I have to admit that I don’t have a pet so I was a little skeptical about the idea. But there seemed to be plenty of people willing to pay a little money to ensure their pets travel as comfortably as they do.
The airline, which is serving 5 major cities initially, is booked for the first two months. And there were plenty of the furry friends flying from BWI yesterday, including a Bernese Mountain Dog and four cats.
So, is there a niche for this kind of business? Read what my colleague Jill Rosen had to say about Pet Airways on the unleashed blog.

To be honest, I dont think owners are concerned for comfort as much as safety. i would never trust my pet with a regular airline. They lose/beat up my luggage, so who knows what happens to pets. If I had to travel cross country, I would pay alot extra to make sure my guy didnt have to fly in a cargo hold.

This sounds like a better deal than what human passengers enjoy! Potty breaks --- isn't Ryanair trying to take away bathrooms from its planes?! Some of those crates sound like they have more legroom than standard coach ...

I love this idea! It's more of a safety issue than anything else. Pets do not belong with cargo.

Very interesting idea - I hope it works! I wonder if there's a first class section? :)
No first class yet. Maybe you gave them an idea.

This is why other countries hate us.... and we do not know where our priorities should be. Not surprised that we have an airline for pets.
