Michael Jackson memorabilia: a great investment?

If you weren't lucky enough to win the lottery for tickets to Michael Jackson's memorial service, don't fret --- but don't blow your hard-earned cash on Michael Jackson memorabilia, warns the BBB of Greater Maryland.

Auction sites such as eBay and other online sellers were flooded with "commemorative items" to honor the legacy of the King of Pop after MJ's death, said Angie Barnett, President and CEO of the Maryland BBB.

Unfortuantely, the value of most of the stuff is ...

... sentimental only. Collectible items are valuable when they are rare, so unfortunately mass-produced objects are not the kind of investment that will fund a retirement, frankly.

Barnett suggests asking any seller of memorabilia questions to help verify the authenticity of autographs and other items. And don't be fooled into buying stuff that's supposedly "limited edition." There may have been millions made and sold to customers.
