Free McDonalds coffee for early birds in February

So, more Cheap Trick Thursday: workplace columnist Hanah Cho tipped me off to an intriguing offer from McDonalds --- one free medium McCafe coffee from 5 to 8 a.m. every day in February, at Golden Arches locations that sport fancy McCafes selling fancy coffee beverages.

Hanah spotted a commercial advertising this deal, but unfortunately I have not been able to find any information online stating definitively which McDonalds in our area are participating or even which have McCafes at all.

There appears to be some debate online about which U.S. regions will have franchises offering the free McCafe coffee in February deal.

Do you have a McCafe near you? Please share addresses and information so your fellow readers can enjoy this as well.

UPDATE: Looking for more free McDonalds McCafe coffee? Click the link for more details, because Baltimore-area McDonalds will be offering freebies in April!

UPDATED AGAIN: More free McDonalds McCafe Mochas, every Monday through Aug. 3, 2009!

The only McCafe I've seen in Maryland was in Ocean City late last summer.

Thanks, Miles ... hopefully some other readers will spot one that doesn't require a toll to enjoy! --- lfk.

I was able to get a McCafe at the McD's up on North and Charles but that was a few months ago.

Thanks for the tip! I wonder if you can take advantage of this through the drivethru ... --- lfk.

The re-built McD's at the corner of Belair Rd & White Ave has (is?) a McCafe. I don't know if they will be participating.

bluekat32, thanks for the heads up about this NE Baltimore location. Looks like we'll have to wait until next week to see if it's participating! -- lfk.

Washington Blvd/ Patapsco Ave location has the McCafe station; as does one on Dobbin Rd in Columbia.

I saw that commercial also; and I'm looking forward to Feb!

IamSupersized, that's good intel! Thanks. -- lfk.

You can get McCafe at the McDonalds on Dundalk Avenue by old Dundalk shopping center. It's not on the menu but I've asked and gotten an iced latte from their before.

Thx, Trish! Early birds, look for that free coffee tomorrow ... --- lfk.

Go here and find your McDonalds and call and ask!

Thanks, Mark! --- lfk.

can u walk in and get one or do u need a coupon and/ or is with the purchase of something? Btw both mcdonalds on guilford road in columbia have mccafe.

Neil, the commercial didn't mention anything about coupons or minimum purchases, but please let us know if you try it! --- lfk.

It's a free medium coffee or medium iced coffee at participating McDonalds (from 5-9 a.m.) even if it's not Cafe. My local McDonald's is participating in Germantown, so I assume most do. No coupon is required. Only one per customer.

Kim --- thanks for confirming! I could sure use some higher-octane caffeine right now ... --- lfk.

I have been to 2 and received a free "premium" coffee. One on Harford & Moravia Rd. and Moravia & Bowleys Lane.

Odell's Mommy, thanks for reporting back! Caffeine hunters, head east! --- lfk.

The offer is valid in Sterling, VA. Just remember to ask for the Medium coffee, I asked for a small and was given a crazy look when I asked if it was free. After a minute or two working through the language barrier I got the medium coffee for free.

Good intel for anyone who's headed south! Thanks! --- lfk.

McDonald's on Northern Parkway between Wabash Ave and Reisterstown Rd have the McCafes. I've gotten a free one every morning on my way to work since they started this promo.

Thanks, WC! -- lfk.

My kids have gotten free medium hot chocolates at the Washington Blvd and Patapsco Ave Mcdonalds without coupons or problems very friendly people there. However even though signs were posted everywhere the Mcdonalds in Catonsville on 40(in the petsmart and roomstore parking lot) refused to give a FREE medium coffee to my oldest daughter this past Tuesday morning,NOT so friendly people!

Mary K., that's so strange. Maybe individual franchisees can chose whether to participate in a promotion, but if you weren't participating, you wouldn't put up the signs! --- lfk.

Hey Folks I just visited Mc D's on Reisterstown Rd near I 695 and the one near intersection of Slade/Milford. The one near I 695 is better organized. But both offer Free McCafe Premium.

Fantastic! Folks, head west for free coffee. --- lfk.

The one on the corner of Belair Rd. and Joppa Rd./India Ave. in Perry Hall has the special listed on their sign. I'd say they're a safe bet.

Thanks, Holly! -- lfk.

Charlottesville, VA sez naaah naaah not this market....

Sorry, Richard! --- lfk.

Went with my 14 yr. old son to the McDonald's in Myersville, MD for the free medium McCafe drink available from 5-9 a.m (for the month of Feb) On the huge poster inside their store it had a picture of the latte, mocha, hot chocolate etc and said avail to 2/28/09. When we went to order they said the hot chocolate wasn't included. I went back and complained and they gave me my money back for the hot chocolate, but said it didn't include the hot chocolate. Great deal, but false advertising if they don't include what it states on the sign. There were no disclaimers on the sign. They also had another sign said free reg. medium coffe in February. I was wondering if anyone else had a similar experience and who I could complain to?

DE, that's very confusing! Let me find the right contact for you to register a complaint more formally. --- lfk.

I've called several Mcdonald restaurant in Fullerton area, Califronia, most of them said they do not provide any free coffee. There is one free sampling MCcafe in Anaheim (714-447-4203),or Free Mccaafe when you make the purchase in Mcdonald in Fullerton (714-870-0171)

McDonald's is really smart to add so many new coffee products to their menu
