Should Ladies Nights live on?
A New York judge has ruled that bars in that state can offer Ladies Night specials if their owners so desire, according to the Associated Press.
Attorney Roy Den Hollander filed the discrimination suit in federal court on behalf of all men ages 21 and older who frequented New York nightclubs that offered Ladies Night specials. The New Yorker's The Talk of the Town offered more info on Hollander's lawsuit in a piece last year.
This is territory that was charted by Marylanders some time ago, according to a Baltimore Sun story:
The commissioners agreed with him in 1995. In a case-specific ruling the commission ordered the restaurant to refund him $4.50 plus interest.
What do you think? Does anyone out there --- guys or gals --- patronize Ladies Nights? Do these specials serve a purpose, or are they unfair? (ed note: hey Midnight Sun Sam, we're talking to you and your wonderfully whacky cast of characters over there. -- DD)

I personally believe that bars should keep Ladie's Night, but also bust the doors wide open on a much deeper variety of themed-specials. Currently most of the non-gender related specials are all sports-oriented, like wearing a jersey for a discount, which is lame. But Mother's runs a PJ brunch that's (used to be) a pretty good deal and lots of fun.
I want like, Funny Hat Night or Cowboy Night or something.
Take it away, Kool & The Gang!
Oh yes it's ladies night
And the feeling's right
Oh yes it's ladies night
Oh what a night (oooooh what a niiiight)
Evan, thanks for hijacking my mental party shuffle. :] --- lfk

Heck, any bar or restaurant should be allowed to have any special they want. I think a lot of people just want something to complain about so they scream discrimination any chance they get.
My wild single days are long gone, but I never thought ladies night was a bad thing. At least as a guy you know the odds of having a lot of women at the establishment were higher!
