Tax Rebates - Week 7

Here's the Treasury Department's update on the tax rebates:

This week - Week 7 - Uncle Sam sent out 9.526 million payments worth a total of $7.032 billion.

The total number of payments: 76.526 million payments worth $63.863 billion. (How many gallons of gas is that?)

Direct deposit payments were supposed to be sent out by May 16th. Checks are still going on up until July 11.

But Treasury warns that a "small percentage" of payments will need additional time to process and won't arrive on schedule.

We just received a letter from the IRS yesterday, stating our Economic Stimulus Payment should be sent by June 20. Originally, it was supposed to be sent by May 16. No explanation given for the delay.

And they give themselves an even bigger loophole when the letter states, "if you do not receive your payment within 6 weeks of this date (June 20), contact us at....". That gives them until the beginning of August!

DD: I don't know if you should consider yourself lucky or not now that you've received word from them. Lucky I guess? Keep your fingers crossed it gets there sooner than later. My Mama still hasn't heard a peep about her rebate.
