The End.
In the old days, when stories were written on typewriters and the copy set with metal from a Linotype, the end of a story was marked with "- 30 -" or "###." Well, this is it for Photo Edge. It has been my pleasure to share with you my photographs and those of fellow Sun photographers. Along with that, to give an insight into what makes a good photograph great and why picture editing is so important. And all that other stuff.
I will continue my work with The Sun, and I can always be found in some way or another.
As the dolphins say, "So long, and thanks for all the fish."

Well shoot. I only started reading in January and was enjoying the blog... Why the (apparently) sudden departure?
I'll just say it was not my decision...

What!? This sucks!

Sorry to see you go. I really enjoyed the blog. Best of luck in all your endeavours.

It was a good run... and thanks for the Adams quote.
Good luck in the future endeavors, see you on the Flickr group.
Hopefully you will. I am stlll with The Sun, and you can still see my pictures at Baltimoresun.com. And anyone who understands a Hitchhikers quote gets the "Assaf Thumbs Up" of approval.

Congrats on the POY, at least!

Darn, and here I was hoping to finally get the Ultimate Question...
'twas good reading while it lasted and a great look into the world of a photojournalist.

Damn Chris! Someone call Sam Zell and ask for an injunction.
I will miss your insights and the ease in which this blog allowed me to see your photography.
See you in DC!

WOW what a surprise. I hate to see this blog by you end...
I have enjoyed reading it and seeing the photos.
Wish you would stay, but good luck in the future....
You are going to be missed... Glad you are still with the SUN...

I looked forward to Chris and PhotoEdge each day - I really can't believe it is gone.
I will never forget the insight and all Chris has shared with us.
Thanks!

It's a darn shame to see your blog get the axe. What gives here? Who is responsible for this? I know you're not pretty yourself, but your pictures are. Any way to get an autographed copy of pictures from Sun camera operators?
Well, my wife thinks I am good looking... The decision was made by several people with baltimoresun.com.
I will check with the powers that be about the autographed photos. Email me through the link below my unpretty mug and I will get back to you personally.
Thanks

Is there any hope for a Chris Assaf personal Blog in the future? - please say yes
I would say confidence is high...

Truly enjoyed your blog and your comments on the Nikon D3. So much so that it encouraged me to buy it.
YOU have provided some great info for all photographers and insight into photojournalism. May I suggest you start your own Blog elsewhere.
Thanks
Thanks very, very much. I'd look for it in the near future.

chris, this is depressing...i do hope it comes back. The Oregonian just put this blog on a top ten list of resources to look at.
Posted by: rob finch | March 13, 2008 9:30 AM
Thanks. It was fun.
And make sure to let us know via Strobist or the remains of this blog, when you start your personal blog.
Btw. I would really be interested to know the reason behind closing this blog.
The feeling is mutual. The decision was made aftre considering the number of blogs, which had become very large and unwieldy, and that the pageviews-per-week were not high enough to continue the support.

I already have no reason to subscribe to the paper and now they've taken away my reason for visiting the Web site!
Posted by: Danielle | March 14, 2008 9:14 AM
the pageview-per-week weren't high enough? how the hell is that possible? i alone probably visit this blog 1,000 times a day.

I'm sad to hear about the blog - the insight you've provided both into the business and technical aspects of photojournalism have been invaluable and well appreciated.

Chris:
Would it help or at least be fun if we started a barrage of hits on the page? Give the big guys something to think about. You will be missed. Like so many please notify us of a new Blog. If not I will see you on Flickr.

Farewell and don't forget your towel.

Slowly and painfully the blog disappears.
Back to the cyber ether from which it was spawned...
